Chip Hanna. New folk artist from North Bay California. Can't get enough of this guy's stuff, it's so different than all the other folk or alternative packages sitting plastic-wrapped in the store. Reminds me of Elliott Smith. This is real independent music, independent writing, independent thinking. The melodies are beautiful and they stick in your head. Check out the album "Lullaby" on itunes.

Also, a great video...

The Beatles, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, and Bob Dylan are standard for me. But then:

1. Arcade Fire
2. Neutral Milk Hotel
3. Why?
4. Bon Iver
5. Ra Ra Riot

Are there any Why? fans here?

Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons.

"Chisel's strong, soulful voice suggests a pitcher who could throw 100 mph, but who's happier throwing curveballs." -Rolling Stone

Check this guy out if you haven't already, he's awesome. He's actually on tour right now and will be in Connecticut at the Fairfield Theatre Company April 10th at 7:30. Tickets are only $17! See you there.

I love MGMT, and passion pit is up there, and recently I can't get enough of this experimental group called Man Man. Also Friendly Fires and Santogold. And some old favorites are Death Cab for Cutie and Vampire Weekend
